MORE ABOUT "THE ROAD TO GÄVLE"

At the end of last year I was asked to write all the music for a Danish feature film called Oldboys.

I spent the most of my three month in LA and New York at the beginning of this year on the score - a huge mouthful and admittedly a lot more challenging than I had expected. It led me into some musical corners I hadn't visited before - with a big string arrangement for a funeral scene as the biggest hurdle.

In March I toured the US with my trio - Dennis Ahlgren and Helgi Jonsson who lots of you will have met by now - and in a 5-day hole in our schedule we went into the legendary Electric Lady Studio in New York and recorded most of what is now heard in the film.

But after handing in the music I couldn't just leave the music and I kept writing and building on it. Many of the instrumental bits that were needed for the film were concieved as full songs with lyrics in my head so I finished these songs, wrote new stuff and went back into the studio to finish the album you'll now soon be able to get your hands on.

Two of the above are instrumental passages, the rest are songs.
All I See in a re-recording is the only repetition - it plays quite a big part in the film.

We've played Rebel Song at our summer shows in Denmark with full band and Goldhawk Road has been tried and tested by Helgi and I on the US tour we've just finished.
