Of all the skills that I was ever taught
It’s the one that makes me fastest on the track
To focus, not let enter any thought
That could make me doubt the grounds for my attack
The argument that overrules them all
Is a covered back and a hand that never shakes
A few good friends that answer every call
And a system that explains when logic fails
We’d whisper if we could
But all we know is to shout it out loud
If they could change the rules we’re playing by they should
But it won’t be easy ’cause we got too good
And I don’t know who wins and who gets hurt
That’s far outside my field of expertise
It’s not for everyone to save the world
And I’m in a system
I’ve got a different mouth to feed
We’d whisper if we could
But all we know is to shout it out loud
If they wanna change the rules we’re playing by they should
But it won’t be easy ’cause we got too good
There’s a moon to let
In the outskirts of Jupiter
A moon to let
There’s an empty space
Where the air comes by courier
A moon to let
They say it’s cold out there
But nothing could be colder than here
You will soon forget
How the Earth lost the jury
On this moon to let
Pack your bag, let’s go
Won’t let any of the bad people know
All them that take more than they give every day
Let them stay
When we move into space
There’s an empty bed
Where the once was reasoning
An empty bed
There’s a moon to let
Where the year has no seasons
And no man has debt
They say it’s cold out there
But how could it be colder than here?
You will soon forget
All your uneasy feelings
On this moon to let
Pack your bag, let’s go
Won’t let any of the bad people know
All them that take more than they give every day
Let them stay
When we move into space
There’s a fire in your engine
There’s a light over your head
Shines with deep belief
That what you need is what you’ll get
There’s a tree in your garden
Branches strong and heavy with clues
They’re all reaching out
As if to spread the news
The world is perfect
In your head
The world is perfect
I wanna live there instead
You’ve been down at the bottom
Been to the dark side of the moon
Brought a suitcase back
Of withered seeds you’ve brought to bloom
You’ve got friends on the mountains
You’ve got friends in the deep
They’re all leaning out
They want to see what you see
The world is perfect
In your head
The world is perfect
I wanna live in your world instead
Don’t let me steal your religion
Don’t let me change your beliefs
When my deamons come to take your measure
I’ll tell them you’re not here
The world is perfect
In your head
The world is perfect
I wanna live there instead
The world is perfect
In your head
The world is perfect
I wanna live in your world instead
It’s strange how we always go back
To where we fell
To what we know so well
I’m walking into the flames
To where I got burnt
I’m way past the point of no return
And I know that I’m crazy
To be coming back for more
But I don’t wanna learn
‘Cause I hope it’ll break me
And then take me
Somewhere I’ve never been before
If battle is all the heart has seen
It feels at home
In the eye of the battle zone
With bullets like comforting touches
A powerful urge
To go way past the point of no return
And I know that I’m crazy
To be coming back for more
But I don’t wanna learn
‘Cause I hope it’ll break me
‘Cause maybe that’ll take me
Somewhere I’ve never been before
And I know that I’m crazy
To be coming back for more
But I don’t wanna learn
‘Cause I hope it’ll save me
From this lonely
Walk right back to where I was before
I remember 17
Endless summer
I’ll never ever forget
I’ll never forget
Like feathers
In a dream
Young lovers
The grass was cold, our bodies wet
I’ll never forget
I remember 21
The first taste of freedom
Rocket-ready space cadets
I’ll never forget
We surrendered and were gone
So eager
To go out and get blinded
I’ll never forget
This is the time of our lives…
I remember 25
The sky was the limit
But what lonely bird to be
To fly there singly
At the centre of the spotlight
Diving in it
For someone to belong to
Like I used to
I remember 29
The season shifted
I’ll never ever forget
I’ll never forget
At the entrance of life
A veil was lifted
And I felt a little different
I’ll never forget
This is the time of our lives…
I remember 17
Endless summer
I’ll never ever forget
They say it’s a cold place
Icy and grey
With a wind that cuts through
Marrow and bone
I’ve heard the earth cracks open wide
Before your eyes and might
Swallow you whole
They say you can get lost for days
In landscapes of big emotions
In the endless night when the sun doesn’t care
To crawl out of bed behind the oceans
We never learned to use a compass
We never learned to read these maps
We always yearned for far-off countries
We never found a straight way back
And it’s a miracle
A miracle
We found true north
True north
They say it’s an old place
With ancient tales
Of violence and war
Passion and soul
But I’ve seen the West bleed into the East
Like a slow breeze
Blowing ripples of hope
And I know I could get lost for life
Inside these stories I’ve heard
‘Cause it all just shows that what we know
Is just the tip, the tip, the tip of the iceberg
We never learned to use a compass
We never learned to read these maps
We always yearned for far-off countries
We never found a straight way back
And it’s a miracle
A miracle
We found true north
True north
And when it’s time to leave and say goodbye, my love
I hope we will be ready
For the journey
But that is then and this is now, there’s time, my love
To play here on the surface
Let’s be fearless
It’s just the tip of the iceberg
The tip of the iceberg
It’s just the tip of the iceberg
The tip of the iceberg
And all the things we could have said will sink, my love
Into the great uncertain
Into the ocean
It’s just the tip of the iceberg
The tip of the iceberg
This was just the tip of the iceberg
The tip of the iceberg
I was never much of a dancer
I never found the way to move
With legs like strangers
And these arms that never had a clue
No, I was never much of a dancer
I keep the music in my head
I keep my head on my shoulders
And shake what I’ve got inside instead
My mind is my dance floor
My feet never get sore
But now you wanna teach me to dance
And try and get me on the floor
You want me to start using my hands
Wanna show me that there’s more to music
More to music…
I was never much of a dancer
I keep the rhythm to myself
My groove is my heartbeat
Take tempo from no no no one else
My mind is my dance floor
My feet they never get sore
But now you wanna teach me to dance
And try and get me on the floor
You want me to start using my hands
Wanna show me that there’s more to music
More to music…
The sky’s a bloodshot pink
Everything is gonna change
Blackbirds are ready to sing
Everything is gonna change
I thought I could write the future
Of course I was wrong
Life’s not like a song
It never stays the same
And everything is gonna change
We were never the early birds
To fly out of bed singing
We were never the very first
To hear the bells ringing
But now we’re standing here watching with our own eyes
The sunrise
The horizon you had in mind
When you and the boys were toasting
In the school yard in ’99
Was a salute to this very morning
As we’re standing here waiting for the light
The sunrise
And everything is gonna change
It’s a new light, a new day
Everything is gonna change
There’s a promise up in the air
Through curtains in every window
As faces everywhere
Begin to light up yellow
And we’re standing here watching with our own eyes
The sunrise
And everything is gonna change
It’s a new light, a new day
Everything is gonna change
Everything is gonna change
I had a dream last night
The worst in many years
Had me biting on my pillow
Had me waking up in tears
I was knocking on a door
I’d been knocking all my life
Expecting great things on the other side
The other side
The other side
Expecting great things on the other side
There was a beam of light
I sensed the time was near
I was getting all excited
Saw my future bright and clear
The lock gave out a roar
And the door slid open wide
I was free to walk out on the other side
The other side
The other side
Finally free to walk out on the other side
That’s where the dream got frightening
I was not at all prepared
For the empty hall that met me
And the truth that lived in there
The castle and the king
And the diamonds in the sky
Were nowhere to be seen on the other side
The other side
The other side
No there were no lights on the other side
The lights were off on the other side
If the dream is right
And if I’m thinking clear
I guess I should be thankful
To have woken up right here
And not half way up a ladder
Into an empty sky
Not looking for a better
Place to live my life
No, I think I’ll just stay and live it on this side
On this side
On this side
I’ll just stay and live my life on this side
Hanging from a rope
On a mountain side
Rocking on a boat
Hook on the line
Picking up a pen
To get stuck in a story
Looking for the Zen
Legs crossed before me
I am looking
Yeah, for a place
Where I can fade
Where I can fade away
But where do you go to disappear?
From tomorrow’s hold
Yesterday’s headlock
Where do you go
To raise your mind up
Science, sex and food
Handcrafts and poetry
Far away or in your room
Whatever keeps you hungry
Are you looking
Yeah, for a place
To get away
Get away from this chaos
I’m still looking
For that special place
Where I can fade
Where I can fade away
But where do you go to disappear?
Everybody needs a place to disappear
Why don’t you come here?
Where do you go to disappear?
Everybody needs a place to disappear
Why don’t you come here?
I can’t believe what I just found
When clearing out of my old house
So many corners I had never seen before
In all the years I’ve walked these floors
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
Sometimes I guess you have to wait
And learn when it’s too late
You leave you learn
And is it so with people too
We only get to know them when we move on
The honesty when we say our last goodbye
The distance that sheds a whole new light
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
Sometimes I guess you have to wait
And learn when it’s too late
You leave you learn
You and I
Let’s not wait
Till it’s too late
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
You leave you learn, you leave you learn
Sometimes I guess you have to wait
And learn when it’s too late
You leave you learn
Calling out to the undone
Calling out to anyone
A small fish in a boundless pond
Calling out of boredom
Out there is a world of endless wonder
Out there is a town of blinding light
The kids, the kids, the kids
They’ll go where the light is
They’ll go where the light is
The kids, the kids, the kids
Always go where the light is
They wanna be where the light is on
They’re running over quicksands
Running over open lands
To a symphony of trust and chance
Highest stakes on open hands
Nobody knows where they will settle
Nobody knows how far they’ll run
The kids, the kids, the kids
They’ll go where the light is
They’ll go where the light is
The kids, the kids, the kids
Always go where the light is
They wanna be where the light is on
